Cliff House - Sutro Baths Ruins
Millionaire, philanthropist and one-time Cliff house owner Adolph Sutro opened the Sutro Baths swimming pavilion in 1896. A three-acre glass enclosure covered seven swimming pools designed to accommodate 10,000 people at one time. Fire destroyed the building in 1966, leaving behind only ruins as a testiment to this Victorian-era recreation site.
